In a strong step against the growing drug problem, Kulgam Police have arrested a drug peddler in Qazigund and seized a large quantity of banned substance from his possession. This is part of the police department’s ongoing mission to keep the community free from drugs.

Checkpoint Operation at Levdoora Crossing

Acting on specific inputs, a team from Police Station Qazigund set up a checkpoint at Levdoora crossing on the National Highway (NHW). During routine checking, the police intercepted a truck with registration number JK02BK-8707.

Upon searching the vehicle, the police found a poppy straw-like contraband substance, which is a banned drug under the law. The driver of the truck, identified as Sardar Chand, son of Deena Nath, and a resident of Samba Manan, Jammu, was immediately taken into custody.

FIR Registered Under NDPS Act

Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 67/2025 at Police Station Qazigund. The charges fall under Section 8/15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which deals with the illegal possession and transportation of narcotic substances.

The vehicle used in the crime has also been seized by the authorities. Further investigation is ongoing to identify other possible links in the supply chain.
